Don't Leap, Let Go: The Misunderstood Virtue of Faith

(Originally published 2017)

In my last post I wrote that in this age of "Healing at the Speed of Thought," in order to heal, fully and completely, the only thing you need to do is think it, and it will be.

No, this isn’t a trick or a riddle or a cruel joke. That’s really all it takes. Well, that and a healthy dose of faith.

You see, I believe that faith is one of the most misunderstood of all virtues—and the most woefully underestimated. For faith, when fully understood and properly applied, truly can move mountains … and heal any woe, at the speed of thought.

When we have faith, we are choosing to believe. We aren’t seeking to know or control or even understand. When we have pure faith, we are putting our trust in powers unseen, then getting the hell out of the way.

Healing at the speed of thought requires that you have the kind of faith that says, “I don’t need to know how this happened or why. I only know that I’m ready to be done with it.”

This kind of faith also says, “I am going to trust that this can and will occur, and that I am ready and worthy to receive this healing now.”

And last but certainly not least, this faith also says, “I am willing to let go of any and all behaviors and emotions I’ve attached to this problem, including guilt, shame, victimhood, blame, anger, spite, and so on.”

Yes, true faith is being willing to let go …

And when you do, something remarkable happens. When you open your arms and lay down those burdens—that need to know or be in control, the doubt that you may not receive what you ask for, the habits and patterns and feelings and beliefs that keep you trapped in a vicious cycle of emotional anguish—when you let them all go, you open your arms to receive. You create space for all the goodness you never had room for before. You make room for healing.

Faith is this necessary ingredient for Healing at the Speed of Thought, not because faith produces a miracle, but because faith precedes the miracle. And in a miracle, time collapses in all directions, making anything at all possible. In fact, in the presence of faith and miracles, time ceases to be, making way for astonishing changes in an instant—at the speed of thought.

Now, more than ever before, this kind of healing is truly possible, for all of us. The reason? Time.

This frenzied, chaotic energy we’re all sensing and feeling, it’s not only because of the social and political climate and the unrest happening in all corners of the world; it’s because time is speeding up. Even if you can’t identify it, you’re feeling it, and it’s whipping the masses into a frenzy. But it’s also triggering our own internal alarm clocks, sounding a call that’s awakening our souls at an ever-increasing rate.

Even if your mind can’t comprehend it yet, your soul knows: It’s time to wake up. It’s time to see the truth. It’s time to free yourself of the shackles of oppression and lies and the pain of the past. It’s time to break out of the patterns you’ve been trapped in, the outdated and ill-suited roles you’ve played for most of your life. It’s time to let go of who the world wanted you to be—indeed, of who you thought you were. It’s time to realize who you truly are … and wake up to the dazzling potential of all you are destined to become. In short, it’s time to heal.

This is your wake-up call. Your time is now. This healing is yours. Wake up, and take it.
